We have helped hundreds of clients obtain Social Security Disability benefits
People who are medically unable to work, whether for physical or mental/emotional reasons, may apply for disability benefits from the federal government. Those of all socioeconomic classes may be entitled to receive Social Security Disability (SSD). If considered wealthy, you need to have worked a required amount of time within the last five years. Those on the other end of the spectrum may be entitled to receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), even if they have not worked.
Obtaining Social Security Disability benefits may take many months and a lot of paperwork. An individual seeking such benefits must have been unable to engage in full-time work for at least 12 months in a row. It is important to have medical documentation and support for the claimed disability issue.
If determined to be “disabled,” the client is typically entitled to back pay, going back to shortly after the date they were unable to work. Those over the age of 50 may have an advantage in the system if it is unlikely than they could be retrained for easier work that they did in the past.
The benefits of hiring a local lawyer far outweigh those of a long distance lawyer. Contact one of our Social Security Disability attorneys to discuss your claim.
