Matt is a partner at Hale Skemp and a trusted advisor to individuals, families, and businesses throughout Wisconsin. Licensed to practice in both the State of Wisconsin and the State of Minnesota, Matt focuses his practice on business law, real estate law, and a wide range of transactional matters. He works closely with clients to provide practical, forward-looking legal solutions tailored to their long-term goals.

Raised in the Onalaska area, Matt is deeply connected to the community he serves. He graduated from Onalaska High School before attending the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he earned both his undergraduate degree and his Juris Doctor. After law school, Matt returned to the region to begin his legal career, gaining valuable experience at another local law firm where he practiced for six years in business, estate planning, real estate, and general practice law.

In the spring of 2022, Matt joined Hale Skemp, bringing with him a strong transactional background and a client-focused approach to problem-solving. Since joining the firm, he has played an integral role in advising business owners on entity formation, contracts, acquisitions, and succession planning. His real estate practice includes representing clients in residential and commercial transactions, leasing, financing, and development matters.

Matt was elevated to partner in recognition of his legal skill, work ethic, and commitment to client service. He is known for his clear communication style and his ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical guidance. Matt takes pride in building long-term relationships with his clients and helping them navigate important personal and business decisions with confidence.
